Description / Tie Down Stop Flow Solenoid - For Disc Brakes w/ Adapter to Reduce 3/8" to 5/16"
The “stop flow” solenoid is the most common type of solenoid. It can be installed on almost any hydraulic actuator. The “stop flow” solenoid is installed at the master cylinder and the brake line is connected to the rear of solenoid. The electrical wire from the solenoid is connected to the reverse lights of the tow vehicle. When the tow vehicle is put in reverse, the solenoid is activated and it stops the flow of hydraulic fluid to the brakes, allowing the tow vehicle and trailer to back up.

NOTE: Backing up an incline may engage the brakes. If the vehicle and trailer stop on an incline and the tow vehicle is in park or out of the reverse position, the solenoid allows pressure to continue to engage the trailer brakes due to the trailer "leaning" into the tow vehicle. If backing up is continued, the solenoid will lock in the pressure to the brakes, leaving them engage while in reverse.
